ABOUT SAINT THOMAS LUTHERAN

Saint Thomas Lutheran Church is a member of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS) New Jersey District.

Our church is located in Manalapan, New Jersey in historic Monmouth County.

We are a congregation of about 60 families. Saint Thomas serves the local communities of Englishtown, Manalapan and Marlboro Townships.

We offer a weekly celebration of the Lord’s Supper at 10:30 AM (9:30 in July and August), as well as mid-week services during Advent and Lent. We also offer Holiday Services on Christmas Eve with a Candlelight Service. Christmas Day, Holy Week Services, Easter Sunrise Service and Thanksgiving Eve. We'd love to have you join us soon.

OUR HISTORY

Founded in 1964, Saint Thomas’ congregation grew rapidly from a handful of faithful members worshipping in each other’s homes and in local schools and grew as more became regular worshippers. Very shortly after forming the first congregation, plans were developed to build a church where the faithful could come to worship, hold social events and grow in the Lord’s service.

In 1970, as a result of the energy and generosity of the founding members and the local community, construction began on the new Saint Thomas Church. With the Church’s dedication in January 1971, the dreams of the congregation were realized. Saint Thomas Lutheran Church became the congregation’s place of worship and the home of a Christian Nursery School.

OUR BELIEFS

We at Saint Thomas believe that Jesus is God who came to us to live and die for all people. We also believe that all of us are burdened with sin in need of Jesus' love and salvation.

We profess that the way of the cross is the only way to enjoy a full life, to love and spend eternity at peace with God.

That God's Word is THE true Word and that we can trust what it says despite what society or others would say.

That "Breaking the Bread and Sharing the Cup" as Christians have done for 2000 years is a sacred and serious act and a great gift. It "physically" offers forgiveness in a personal way and binds those who share a common faith together into one body.

That there is still right and wrong and still hope in a Redeemer for all of us who fail and feel the shame of failing. That Jesus is not just for church people, that He is YOUR God, and that he has a place for you in His body, the Church, when we are humble enough to receive it.

That there is one God, in three persons, a great and wonderful mystery: Father, Son and Holy Spirit!
